World Affairs: China

China Travel   China History

One of the major issues in the world today is how China will fit into the international order of things, or indeed whether it will attempt to "fit" at all. Of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) expanding economies it potentially will have the biggest impact on the future of the global system.

The following selection of books has been brought together to cover a wide range of questions, including the internal political and economic development of the country, civil and religious liberties, regional relations with India and others, and the impact of the expanding, and increasingly outward looking, Chinese economy on the world as a whole - and not least on the future development of Africa.

Don't forget also that our "Read-the-World" scheme allows you within each of the country or regional sections to move easily between world affairs, travel and history departments to obtain a broader view.
