The books displayed below cover a wide range of issues in international affairs, mostly written in an accessible style for the general intelligent reader rather than the academic specialist.

Rather than adopt any one political position we will try to include books written from a variety of perspectives, paying especial attention to this principle as the list is extended over coming weeks.

Issues relating to specific countries and regions can usually be found in the appropriate country section (see the index here to the right), although as we do not have separate sections for every country some are to be found here. One of the greatest geopolitical questions of our time, energy security, is given its own section rather than combining it with other general topics.
